What to make in August


August is a time for making the most of summer produce.

I have selected a few recipes, some to enjoy now and others to help you stock your cupboards with preserves for the months ahead.

Try this rustic cheese and tomato galette, make a batch of fresh tomato sauce for pasta dishes or make some individual vegetable quiches for a meat free lunch or dinner.

Tomato chutney is a perfect way to make use of a glut of tomatoes. Stock your cupboards with this tasty preserve to enjoy over the months ahead.

This easy chutney recipe can be made using a variety of garden fruits and will keep for several months or even years.

Oaty fruit crumble

Fruit crumble is a perfect way to make the most of garden fruits, either fresh or frozen. Enjoy it hot or cold topped with custard or ice cream.

Fig compote

Fig compote makes a tasty fruit topping for desserts and also pairs well with cheeses.

Red pepper chutney

This lightly spiced chutney is made with sweet red peppers. It is suitable for long storage and makes a useful homemade gift.
