October baking ideas

Fill your kitchen with the aroma of one of these tasty October bakes!

At this time of the year I have regular baking sessions to keep our cake tins and freezer topped up with baked goods ready to enjoy as a dessert or with a cup of coffee. I also like to share them with friends and neighbours.

While I have a weakness for cakes and biscuits I only enjoy them if they are homemade. I think they are so much better than any mass produced goods.

From sweet almond frangipane to lightly spiced fruit bread, or oaty fruit crumble to cinnamon star bread you may find some baking inspiration here.

And October is a good time to bake your Christmas cake. By making it early you will have plenty of time to feed it with brandy or sherry to produce a perfectly moist fruit cake to enjoy over the festive season.

Whether you are baking for family, guests or yourself, why not try one of these cosy flavour filled recipes?

Almond slices

Almond slices are a rich buttery traybake with a layer almond frangipane and are perfect with a cup to tea or coffee.

Mini cinnamon rolls

Cinnamon rolls are just about everyone's favourite and these mini versions are perfect for sharing.

Carrot cake traybake

Carrot cake tray bake is another cake made for sharing which is topped with mascarpone frosting and nuts.

Date and oat slices

Date and oat slices are portable snack cakes perfect for when you are out and about.

Sweet potato cookies

Sweet potato cookies are delicious marzipan-like treats which can be baked in bulk and frozen.

Carrot cake muffins

Carrot cake muffins are individual portions of this popular cake and are just the thing to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.

I will have more recipe ideas for you in November.
